Loved the latteβit had a nutty flavor profile that I really enjoy. The shop has limited seating and each spot is quite small, making it ideal for solo work or a quick break. Nice selection of pastries to pair with your drink. Cozy but not the place for long stays.
Overview
Hungry Ghost located at 253 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217, is a must-visit spot for anyone craving an unforgettable dining experience. This hidden gem in Brooklyn has become a local favorite thanks to its unique approach to modern dining, blending traditional flavors with contemporary twists. As you step inside, you're greeted by an inviting atmosphere thatβs both casual and sophisticated, making it a perfect destination for any occasion.
The menu at Hungry Ghost is as dynamic as it is delicious, offering a variety of dishes that showcase the culinary expertise of the chefs. The star of the show here is undoubtedly the pizza, which is cooked to perfection with a crisp, charred crust and a generous topping selection. The ingredients are always fresh, sourced from local vendors, ensuring each bite bursts with flavor. A personal favorite is the Margherita pizza, which strikes the perfect balance between the richness of the mozzarella and the tangy sweetness of the tomatoes.
For those who prefer non-pizza options, the restaurantβs pasta dishes are equally impressive. The pasta is homemade and crafted with precision, giving it a chewy, satisfying texture. The creamy carbonara is a standout, with the pancetta adding the right amount of saltiness to complement the smooth, velvety sauce. Vegetarians will also find plenty to love, including the vegetable lasagna, which is a hearty and flavorful dish packed with layers of seasonal produce.
One of the things that sets Hungry Ghost apart from other Brooklyn eateries is its commitment to quality and innovation. The chefs arenβt afraid to experiment with new flavors and textures, which is evident in their seasonal specials. For example, during the fall, they offer a butternut squash pizza that perfectly balances the sweetness of the squash with the savoriness of the ricotta. It's dishes like these that make this restaurant feel fresh and exciting, even for regular visitors.
The drink menu is just as carefully curated, offering a selection of craft beers, wines, and cocktails. Whether you're in the mood for a crisp lager to pair with your pizza or a bold red wine to complement your pasta, Hungry Ghost has something to satisfy every palate. Their signature cocktail, the Ghostly Old Fashioned, is a must-try for anyone looking to enjoy a drink with a bit of an edge.
What truly makes Hungry Ghost stand out, however, is the level of care and attention to detail that goes into every dish. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to offer recommendations or explain the ingredients in each dish. The ambiance is laid-back yet vibrant, with the right amount of buzz to make it feel like a special night out without being too loud or crowded.
In addition to its food and drinks, the restaurant has built a loyal customer base thanks to its excellent customer service and consistent quality. It's no wonder why it has garnered such rave reviews on local food blogs and review platforms. Staff were friendly and accommodated my specific request for a cup with just ice. Delicious mocha, filled to the brim, nice swirl. Only room for improvement would be offering to warm their baked goods. Overall no complaints.
What a lovely cafe! The coffee is perfect, and the peaceful environment is ideal, especially on sunny days with their big windows. Great for getting some free vitamin D good for both health and mind.
Starr is the best. Great attitude and I love the way they make my iced matcha consistently amazing EVERY single time they make one for me. Starr has been the most attentive Barista there in my experience. Top quality service, thanks Starr~!β
Space is cozy, warm and inviting. Treats are fresh and tasty, customer service is great. Had the ice tea and Ginger Tea with croissant. Everything was great!!!
A great little coffee shop, the coffee is good and that's the point right? The acoustics are such that when the music is going and it's full with lots of folks are talking, it becomes a bit of a shouting match. But when it's not crowded, it's a great quiet place to grab a coffee and a fun pastry and relax.
